Straight answers about Odometric

Pricing, data, offline use, investor reporting and what moving off paper actually involves. If something you need to know is missing, ask us directly and we will add it here.

The product

What is Odometric?

Odometric is car showroom management software for used-car dealerships in Pakistan. It indexes every vehicle by its registration number and keeps inventory, scanned documents, investor capital and profit splits, deferred payments and sale receipts on one record. It runs in a web browser, so there is nothing to install.

Who makes Odometric?

A small team in Lahore, Pakistan. Odometric was founded in 2026 by Abdul Rehman, who also writes the articles on the Odometric blog.

Who is it for?

Used-car showrooms and dealer groups anywhere in Pakistan, from the big-city markets to a single-location showroom in a smaller town. It suits a showroom where more than one person touches the same records, where cars are funded by outside investors, or where cars are sold on instalments. A single operator holding a handful of self-funded cars will get less out of it than a spreadsheet already gives them.

What does it actually do?

Seven things. A vehicle registry indexed by registration number, with cost, expenses, photos and status. Document capture, where CNICs, passports, vehicle smart cards and excise books are read by OCR on the device, and any other paper is scanned and attached. A document vault that tracks where the physical file is and can hold it against an unpaid balance. An investor ledger that records who funded which car and splits the profit. Deferred payment schedules tied to that hold. Marketplace listings, where a car ready to sell is published to the shared dealer board from its own record. And finance: expenses per vehicle, sale receipts and realised profit per unit.

How is Odometric different from other car showroom software in Pakistan?

It is narrower, and built around the money and the papers on each car rather than around selling. The physical file is held while a buyer still owes money: the registration book, original file, number plates, transfer letter and duplicate keys stay in the vault until the balance clears or a written override reason is recorded against the release, and releasing the papers of a car sold through Odometric records the recipient's name, CNIC and signature. Investor profit is worked out per car: the showroom's management cut, set on that car, comes off first, the rest is divided between that car's investors by the capital each put in, and a payout ledger keeps returned capital separate from profit. AutoHisaab and Prime Car also record investor money against a car, and some tools are cheaper, work offline or run payroll, so Motrade, AutoHisaab, Prime Car and four others are compared side by side, including where each is the better buy, on the comparison page.

Is there a mobile app?

Not a separate download from an app store. Odometric is a web application designed to work on a phone browser, which is how most of it gets used in practice, standing in the showroom rather than at a desk. It can be added to a phone home screen and opens like an app.

Does it work offline?

The part that matters, yes. Each device keeps a copy of your showroom, so when the signal drops you can still open the app and read the floor, the files and the ledgers as they stood when it last connected, with that time shown on screen. A cost, an investor or a car entered while there is no signal is held on the device, shown straight away, and sent on its own when the connection returns, and it cannot be saved twice. What still needs a connection: closing a sale, recording a payment, and uploading photos or scans, because a sale freezes the papers and a payment releases them, and neither should be believed on a screen before the server has agreed. Photos already on the server are not available while you are offline either. Signing out removes the copy from that device.

Pricing and plans

How much does it cost?

Starter is PKR 10,000 per month for one showroom floor, with up to 60 active cars and 2 locations. Growth is PKR 20,000 per month for up to 200 active cars and 6 locations, with priority onboarding. Enterprise is PKR 30,000 per month for unlimited active cars and locations, with priority support. Every plan includes every feature and unlimited staff logins.

Is it priced per user?

No. Every plan includes unlimited staff logins, and pricing is per showroom. Per-seat pricing pushes a showroom into sharing one login between the munshi, the salesmen and the accountant, which destroys the audit trail that makes the system worth having in the first place.

What counts as an active car on a plan?

A car currently on the floor. Vehicles that have been sold and settled no longer count against the limit, so a showroom turning over sixty cars a month is not the same as a showroom holding sixty at once.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new showroom gets a 15-day trial with every feature and the Starter limits, started from the sign-up page without talking to anyone and with no card. For a bigger floor, the more useful path is usually a demo with a few of your own registration numbers already loaded, which is a better test than an empty system.

Data and security

Who owns the data?

You do. Your vehicles, documents, costs, buyers and investor records are yours, and we do not sell, share or use them to train anything. If you leave, you can ask for an export of your data and we will provide it.

Can other showrooms see my stock or my numbers?

No. Each showroom's records are isolated from every other showroom's, and nothing crosses that boundary. The only information that is visible outside your own account is a vehicle you explicitly choose to list on the marketplace, and only the listing details you publish.

Is the data backed up?

Yes. Every night, and before every change we deploy, a backup is taken on the server, and an encrypted copy is emailed off the server to a mailbox our founder holds, so the data survives even if the server does not. Google stores that copy but cannot open it, because the key is kept on our founder's own computer, not on the server or in the mailbox. If you need a specific guarantee in writing for a partnership or a lender, ask and we will put the actual arrangement in an agreement rather than a marketing sentence.

Can it be hosted on our own server?

No. Odometric is a hosted service on every plan, and there is no self-hosted version. Each showroom's data sits in its own tenant on a server in Frankfurt, backed up every night, with an encrypted copy kept off that server.

Using it

How long does it take to get started?

An afternoon for a typical floor. The work is entering the cars currently standing, with what each one cost, what has been spent on it and who funded it. We deliberately do not recommend importing years of closed sales: that turns a one-afternoon job into a multi-week one, and it is the most common reason a changeover is abandoned halfway.

Can it handle several investors on the same car?

Yes. Each vehicle can carry any number of investors with different capital amounts, and the profit split is calculated from those amounts. The showroom's management cut is set per vehicle rather than per showroom, because the right cut on a small car is rarely the right cut on an expensive one. The three models the trade uses are explained with worked arithmetic in how car showrooms split profit with investors.

What happens if a buyer pays in instalments?

The sale records a price, an amount received and a balance, and the vehicle's documents are placed on hold automatically until the balance clears. The hold lifts when the final payment is recorded. Nobody has to remember to stop the file being handed over on a Friday afternoon, which is when it usually happens.

Does it replace our accountant?

No, and it is not trying to. Odometric accounts for vehicles: what each car cost, what it earned, and who is owed what. It is not general business accounting, it does not do payroll, and it does not file tax. It gives your accountant clean per-vehicle numbers instead of a notebook.

What if we already use software that does part of this?

Say so on the demo. If an existing system genuinely covers your inventory and your accounts and the only gap is investor splits, the honest answer may be that you should not replace it, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a second system you will run alongside the first.

Which languages does the interface support?

English at present. Registration numbers, names and notes can be entered in whatever form you use day to day, and the vocabulary throughout is the trade's own rather than translated accounting language.

If you are weighing this up for a real floor, the useful conversation is about your cars, your partners and your paperwork rather than a feature list.
